Send a photo of your lock. Get a starting price.
Take a picture of the lock and the door, send it to Lockie on WhatsApp, and in about a minute you get an honest idea of the price before anyone comes out. It's an estimate from what you've sent, not a quote — your locksmith confirms a fixed price with you on site before any work starts, and if it's higher than the estimate they show you why, and you can decline.
How it works
1. Send the photo
The lock face (the part the key goes in) and the whole door if you can. On a uPVC door, a photo of the door edge with the door open helps most.
2. Read what we saw
Lockie tells you what the photo shows — lock type, door, visible damage — so you can correct it. Then the estimate: what published UK guides put that job at, or, where locksmiths on the platform have set their prices, starting from the lowest of them.
3. Book, and pay the locksmith's real price
Reply BOOK. The assessment fee starts from £29 and is shown exactly before you confirm. Your locksmith confirms a fixed price on site before any work starts.
The LockSafe Price Promise
A starting price before anyone comes out. A fixed price agreed with you on site before any work starts. If it's higher than your estimate, your locksmith shows you why — and you can walk away.
Locksmiths on LockSafe set their own prices. What they don't get to do is the things the rogue trade is known for. When you book through us, your locksmith has agreed to these five:
- Confirms a fixed price with you on site before any work starts. If it is above the estimate you were given, they show you why — with a photo — and you can decline at no cost beyond the assessment fee.
- Tries non-destructive entry first, and only drills or damages a lock after explaining why and getting your agreement.
- Shows photo ID and their DBS certificate on arrival when asked.
- Gives an itemised invoice naming the parts fitted, and leaves the old parts if you want them.
- Takes payment through LockSafe by card, so you have a record and a dispute route.
Where a locksmith has not yet agreed to all five, we tell you before you book.
If something isn't right
If the price you were charged doesn't match what you were told on site, or a locksmith didn't keep to the five above, tell us within 14 days and we'll look at the job record — the estimate you were sent, the quote, the photos and the payment are all on file. Email support@locksafe.uk or reply on WhatsApp.
You can also take it to your local Trading Standards office through Citizens Advice; we'll give you the job record to take with you.
What the photo can't tell us
A gearbox inside a uPVC door, a snapped key you can't see, a frame that's been forced — some of it only shows with the door open. When that's the case the estimate says so and the range is wider. That's why the price is always fixed on site, and always before any work starts.
Your photo
Photos are analysed by an AI model to identify the lock and any damage, shown to your locksmith so they arrive prepared, and deleted after 90 days at most. Full details in our privacy policy.
